Business Maintenance

All Mississippi Corporations and LLCs Must File: 

  • Articles of Incorporation
    File your Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization with the Mississippi Secretary of State and pay the filing fee online. The cost to form a Mississippi corporation or LLC is $50.
  • Beneficial Ownership Information Report
    Nearly all businesses formed by filing with the state of Mississippi must file a federal Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Report with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) following business formation.   • Annual Report
    The Mississippi Annual Renewal costs $25 for corporations or free for LLCs. You must file the report by April 15 each year. Mississippi annual reports must be filed online.

Mississippi Business Taxes

Personal Income Tax
Mississippi individual income tax rates are as follows:

3% on the first $5,000 of taxable income,
4% on the next $5,000 of taxable income, and
5% on taxable income in excess of $10,000

Corporate Income Tax
Mississippi corporate income tax rates are as follows:

3% on the first $5,000 of taxable income,
4% on the next $5,000 of taxable income, and
5% on taxable income in excess of $10,000

Franchise Tax
This tax is imposed on corporations or associations doing business in Mississippi. The Franchise tax is calculated at $2.50 per $1,000 of the value of the capital employed or the assessed property values in Mississippi, whichever is greater. The minimum franchise tax payment due is $25.

Mississippi Business License

Mississippi does not require a general state business license. Mississippi businesses do need to make sure they have any specific state and/or local license they may need.
