  Getting started with your LLC

If you decide that forming an LLC is best for you in regards to the liability protection, you may also wish to consider the state in which to file your LLC. Most individuals do in fact file in the same state they do business in or reside in however certain tax benefits may arise from filing in another state. We recommend that you contact your local CPA or attorney for more information on the benefits of filing in a different state.

Naming your LLC

When naming your LLC you will want it to be as unique as possible. Most states will ignore some words such as ‘and’, ‘to’, ‘the’, ‘of’, ‘&’, abbreviations, spacing and capitals, etc. Your name must also end in either LLC, L.L.C., Ltd Liability Co. or Limited Liability Company. The Secretary of States office will not accept a filing if they determine a name is too similar to an entity already on file and in good standing.

Contact your state for any and all State Laws

Most states require more than just filing the articles of organization to maintain an LLC. It is pertinent that you do your due diligence in researching all applicable states laws and regulations. Please contact your local secretary of state offices for more information.
