  Register a LLC

Registering in your home state

When forming your LLC, you may register in any state. Deciding on which state to file in should not be taken lightly. There are serious tax liabilities associated with which state you file in. Which is best for you? You may want to contact your local CPA or attorney for more information about the tax benefits for each state. Otherwise, registering your LLC in your home state may in fact be the best state to file in.

Choosing a name for your LLC

Choosing a name may be just as difficult in deciding where you file your LLC. Something to keep in mind is that the entity name must end in LLC, L.L.C., LTD, or Limited Liability Company. The state may not accept your filing if the name you have chosen is too similar to that of an entity already on file and in good standing. It should also be noted that there are some word restrictions that differ with each state. Some states have different rules regarding words such as “bank”, “trust”, “engineering”, etc.. For more information about restrictions on entities, please check with the state in which you are filing in.
