Register in Your Home State

When choosing to register a corporation there are several decisions that should be made.  You can register a corporation in any of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia. Many people will choose to register in their home state, but you may want to consult with your CPA or attorney in deciding which state will best fit your needs.

Choose your Corporation name

You must also choose a name for you corporation which will end with  with ‘corporation,’ ‘incorporated,’ ‘corp,’ or ‘inc.’  It may be beneficial to do some research on your preferred company name that is to be registered to ensure that the name is not currently being used in the state that you are registering in.  Also keep in mind that a name may not be accepted if it is misleading or it too closely resembles an existing corporation. Select more than one name choice in case your preferred name is unavailable.
