Registering a new Indiana corporation
The formation of an Indiana corporation is done by filing Articles of Incorporation with the Indiana Secretary of State. These Articles lay out specific information that is required by the Corporations Division of the Indiana Secretary of State.
Naming your new Indiana corporation
All Indiana corporations must contain the word "corporation", "incorporated", "company", or "limited", or the abbreviation "corp.", "inc.", "co.", or "ltd." The corporation may not contain words or phrases as to mislead the public that the corporation is organized for a purpose other than that permitted by Indiana statutes and articles of incorporation. The name must be distinguishable upon the records of the secretary of state from a corporation (registered or reserved) or other business entity incorporated or authorized to transact business in Indiana.
