Ways to Save Money at the Office

While everyone is looking to save money, if you're running an office it may be a little more difficult to find places to trim costs. Here are some ways that we think may help:

Paper: If you're an office that uses a lot of paper, be sure to recycle the paper, by recycling we mean in-office recycling. Many times in an offices things are misprinted, too many copies are printed and so on. If the paper you're printing on doesn't contain any sensitive information set it aside for employees to use as scratch paper to take notes on. It's a simple idea that not many offices are in the practice of.

Water: While the water cooler talk culture suffer, having a water filtration system can greatly reduce the cost of having bottled water delivered to your office. Brita is among the big companies that not only offer filtration devices that attach directly to a sink, but they also have jugs with replaceable filters.

Phone service: With landline service slowly making it's way to the grave, many companies are offering Voice Over IP or VOIP services for rates that are lower than you can imagine, when bundled with your already in place internet service, the rates are even lower.

Look around your office and see what can be reduced or see if you can work with your vendors to reduce prices of certain products. It's worth a shot and all it takes is a phone call. If you have any questions about starting a business, please don't hesitate to call us at 866-999-8200.

Elections and Business

Well the midterm election is only a few weeks away.  Voter turnout may be mixed as alot of the population may be fed up with what our politicians are doing to help people and small business.  It is a wonder that anything can get done considering that politicians in California couldn't get a budget passed for months.  Its no wonder that people don't want to show up and vote anymore.  For Californians, this may be more of an important election than in most years because several key offices are up for grabs especially the governor and senator seats.

Carly Fiorina and Barbara Boxer are fighting for the senate seat of California and Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown for govenor.  Both of these results could have a significant impact on what each candidate can do to improve our economy in California.  California is one of the highest in terms of unemployment and our debt just seems to get worse every year.  Voters may be apathetic and this year may be the year that the feeling will be to get the incumbents out and start with some new fresh faces.

What I tell people is that you have no right to complain if you don't vote.  So go out and vote this coming election.  If you want to start a corporation a start an llc, you can contact us.  We can help you get your business started right.

Obama Meeting with NJ Small Business Owners

Today, President Obama will be meeting with small business owners in New Jersey. Owners of New Jersey LLCs and New Jersey Corporations of the smaller variety are set to meet with Obama to discuss the President's initiative to free up business credit for small businesses. If you look around, most people are employed by small businesses, small businesses make this economy go round, sure big corporations do play a part in the economy also, but small business is what drives it. Small business owners often forget about the outside world and focus on their business alone, but it's also important to read up on bills set to be passed, whenever there's an election, it's also important that you vote, because the laws that pass could affect your business.

Cutting Back on Energy Costs In the Summer

Obviously when owning a small business in a hot area, whether it be a California LLC or a New York Corporation, energy costs are going to go up in the summer. It's important not only to your wallet but also to the environment that you keep energy usage down. There are many ways you can cut your electricity usage and without compromising the comfort of your employees or clients. One big way is to use a swamp cooler instead of an air conditioner, it uses a lot less power and often times people cannot tell the difference between the two. Another way to cut costs is to have your thermostat or air conditioning unit on a timer, lots of people do not like to turn off the air when they go home because they do not want to walk into a hot stuffy office in the morning, if you have a timer set up you can turn your air on 20 minutes prior to arriving at the office and have it shut off when your office or store closes, there's no need to have the air on 24/7. Another way, if you live somewhere where it's not too humid or hot, cut back on the air and just have a fan running, places like San Francisco and other areas along the west coast have more opportunity to take advantage of this type of cooling method. Regardless of where you are, there are ways you can cut back.

An interesting LA times article today shows that small business lending has been trending upwards.  It is a bright spot on a negative news day about the economy.  Housing numbers for sales of existing homes plunged 30% after the expiration of federal tax credits.  Small business is seen as the key factor in driving up employment numbers as the economy is looking to the private sector for jobs.  The job market might take a hit after thousands of temporary census jobs being terminated.

We can help your small business with its incorporation filing,  we also form llc's as well.

Big Cities Keep Growing

By now, most of us have felt the effects of the recession, and in an interesting trend big cities seem to be growing because of the recession. The housing crisis has many people looking for a home in large cities rather than surrounding suburbs. 19 out of 34 cities in the US with populations of more than a half a million have been steadily growing. People are not trying to buy homes right now and instead are opting to live in big cities. This may be bad news for some industries but for small businesses around and in big cities, it's good news as cities are growing so is demand for services in those areas. If you're in a metropolitan area and are interested or have questions about opening your own small business, whether you are thinking about filing for a corporation or opening an L.L.C. feel free to give us a call at 866-999-8200.

Americans Sleeping and Watching TV More

According to the American Time Use Survey recently conducted, Americans who have lost their jobs or have had their hours cut back are spending their extra free time sleeping or watching TV. This is alarming news as that Americans are not using the time to be productive, if there was ever a time that you should be productive the time is now, it will be important in the long run if these Americans used their time to do something better for themselves. Although many Americans are using this time to waste away, there are many people who are using the time for the good of the economy, by starting new businesses, even if they are home based businesses, it's important to keep the ecomomy going and moving.
