Many small businesses are quick to sign up for Facebook and Twitter but there's no sense in establishing accounts if you're not going to be active in the communities. It's important to stay active in the community because, even if this is just a trend, it's how consumers are staying in contact with their favorite companies and it's also how companies can spread the word about promotions and get their name out there. There is also a flip side, and sometimes companies spend too much time and energy on social networking sites, so it's important to find a balance and have realistic views on what the social networking will do for your company, like any other online marketing tool, it takes time to see results, but at the minimum you will be able to interact with your clients and see what they're saying about your company, some may even have suggestions on how to make your product or service better.
